Americans Expected to Spend $1.7 Billion on Their Pets for Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is coming up this Friday and if you're like most Americans you might have stopped by your local pet store for a pink bandana, a heart shaped dog cookie or even some red sunglasses for your pooch. According to the National Retail Foundation U.S residents are expected to spend $1.7 billion for Valentine's day.. not for their partner, but for their pets! This statistic claims that more people are buying Valentine's Day gifts for their dogs and cats than ever before compared to the $400 million dollars spent just ten years ago.

Of course, Valentine's Day spending is still higher for their human interest with the NRF expecting Americans to spend $27.4 billion this year on their loved one, increasing from its $20.7 billion in 2019. About 37% of this is spent on flowers, 34% dropped on dates, and 21% on jewelry.

What do you think? Are you laying low for this upcoming holiday or going all out in puppy sunglasses and fancy dinners?
