Priscilla Block couldnât help but feel intimidated when she teamed up with Justin Moore on the smoldering duet, âYou, Me, And Whiskey.â Her nervousness grew once she realized Mooreâs previous duet partner was powerhouse country artist Miranda Lambert.
Still, Moore knew an unexpected story that would put Block at ease.
âWell, when I went into the studio that day, your producer was like, âThe only other female duet that Justinâs done was with Miranda,ââ Block recalled, per Mooreâs record label. She was referring to âOld Habits,â which Moore and Lambert sang on his Off The Beaten Path album. âAnd so Iâm walking in there, and Iâm like, âoh my God!â Like, no pressure at all, you know? I was just hoping that Iâm gonna hit the right notes. But it was so funny, he told me the story about how when Miranda came in, she had like a baby kangaroo in her purse.â
âYou, Me, And Whiskeyâ is one of Mooreâs latest songs to release as he readies his next studio album, Stray Dog, which is due on May 5. He said last month, when he announced his album: âA long time ago I decided I wasnât going to play games or pursue things that didnât make me happy, perhaps thatâs made me a bit of an outsider in this industry, but itâs also what allows me to go to bed each night feeling good about what Iâm doing. Iâve never just gone along with the crowd. Iâve always tried to follow my heart and let the chips fall where they may, and Iâm really proud of that. Iâm excited to announce that my upcoming album, Stray Dog, embodies that same mantra. âŠItâs a really personal, autobiographical song that gives an insight into myself and the project as a whole.â
