Hi-Hat Hattie, the musical about Wichitan Hattie McDaniel portrayed by Laurence Olivier Award, Drama Desk Award winning and Tony Award nominated Karla Burns! She emerges as a vivid portrait in words and music of pioneering artist Hattie McDaniel, whose well-developed work ethic and abiding faith earned her a place in show business history, including the first Oscar given to an African-American person. The show’s book underscores the bitter irony of McDaniel’s plight. When comedian Raanan Hershberg's phone breaks while on the road in Wichita, Kansas, he has no choice but to reflect on his life for a day. This show hilariously explores our addiction to our smart phones, and what happens when we are abruptly cut off. The majority of the show takes place in Wichita, and Raanan is excited to bring this show back to where it all started. Hershberg was a finalist last year in StandUp NBC and The Laughing Skull Festival in Atlanta, GA. He regularly opens for Kathleen Madigan in sold out theaters across the country.
